Le Cycle Magazine once called Mont du Chat perhaps the toughest (paved) climb in France. I think there are harder, but it’s fairly brutal.
I am now eligible to become a “member” of the Confrérie des Fêlés (brotherhood of the crackpots) du Grand Colombier.
The goal was to find some new Cols and quiet, scenic roads. Mission accomplished.
At the risk of repeating myself, the Jura mountains are an incredible place for steep, big, beautiful, deserted cycling climbs.
For anyone that has never seen a stage, this gives a pretty good feel of how much fun it is …. especially the Publicity Caravan.

A beautiful, hilly loop on deserted roads (maybe because the climbs were all still strangely signed as closed?)
