Col de Belleroche
By Will • Oct 29th, 2007 • Category: Climbs, Cycling, JurasToday’s 60 kilometre loop was one of those beautiful “road to nowhere” rides in the Jura mountains - I didn’t see a car until 90 minutes into the ride.
Starting in Nantua, the route started with the main climb - Col de Belleroche. It’s a beautiful 11 kilometre climb on a narrow, hair-pin filled road that winds up the side of the valley providing great views of Lake Nantua. The second bump in the elevation profile was a 5 kilometre climb up to Col de Cuvillat, then I looped back to ascend the Col de Belleroche again from another direction through a beautiful mountain valley, descending back to Nantua.
If you plan the right route, the Jura mountains can provide stunning rides along peaceful yet well surfaced roads.
Here’s a link to another great Jura loop near Nantua.
