Col de la Croisette – Le Salève

By • Mar 6th, 2007 • Category: Climbs, Cycling

Parts of this climb are steep! With a 4 kilometre stretch averaging 12%

croisettegrade I usually do this almost 40 kilometre loop in the other direction, for a more gradual climb up the saleve. But I decided to do the steep way today, although I brought a hybrid bike so i had a nice easy gear. It’s a great climb with great views of Geneva on one side and the Alps on the other. At the top, the route runs along the top of the Salève for several kilometres. I was surprised to see the road closed to cars. And as I reached 1300 metres for a couple of kilometres the road was still generally covered with snow. So a little hiking was required – but a nice deserted route.

is Happiest while cycling uphill. More enthusiastic than talented, his 2013 Challenge is to cycle a 150 Cols (mountain passes), slowly -- and to just enjoy.
