Col du Coq
By Will • Jun 18th, 2010 • Category: Climbs, CyclingAnother steep, quiet, scenic cycling climb near Grenoble.
Col du Coq is in the Chartreuse massif to the north of Grenoble. It’s a steady, steep climb averaging almost 9% for 12.7 kms.
Half way up are two dark tunnels that were soaking and leaking inside. I always seem to hit my highest heart rate of the year cycling through dark, “uphill” tunnels. They scare me.
After the tunnels the road splits and the route takes a quieter road to the Col.
There lots of interesting stuff on the other side and I had a bigger route planned. But I was rained on twice on the way up and I decided it didn’t make sense to get on the wrong side of a mountain in case of a storm.

Si c’était aujourd’hui, on a failli se croiser ! J’ai changé d’avis finalement car je voudrais le faire par beau temps. J’étais en face (Belledonne).
