La Dole, Jura Mountains
By Will • Jul 16th, 2006 • Category: Climbs, Cycling, Doreen, JurasHigh above Lake Geneva, in the Jura Mountains is a quiet, well surfaced road up to La Dole, a little mountain peak. This is a great climb that I did a few times a few years back.
Doreen joined me for this very steep ride. Unfortunately about half we up swarms of flies appeared making things a little miserable. I road up ahead and finished the climb and took an additional little road up to some Communication towers. Doreen hadn’t been feeling that well, and given the flies I assumed that she had turned back. But after a quick drink, I start descending …. and like usually there she was, bravely persevering. Frankly, for once I was a little disappointed at her courage, as it meant I had to finish the climb again mobbed by flies.
