Riding Above the Clouds
By Will • Oct 25th, 2007 • Category: Climbs, CyclingIn the fall and winter in the Alps it is often cold, cloudy and dark. But to find the sun, often it’s only a matter of going up high.
So I snuck out the back door and cycled up the mountain behind my house - Le Saleve. And Voila! At about 1,300 metres (~4400 feet) I found the sun.
Beautiful views of the Alps in the distance with Mont Blanc mostly visible.
I also found a little snow in the woods at the top, although the roads were OK. And as always, climbing in the cold is fun, but descending can be a near death experience. Wow were my toes and fingers hurting - time to get my biker booties out.
