Saleve via Col des Pitons

By Will • Apr 9th, 2007 • Category: Climbs, Cycling

A big ride with Martin on some quiet , scenic roads.

After a slow start and a flat tire, my first day in shorts involved a challenging climb up the Saleve. If you look at the elevation chart below, you can see that we took the more gradual way up although it is quite steep in places and we were certainly feeling some pain in parts. The way down is pretty crazy steep and I have only done it with a mountain bike with nice easy gears.

Another hazy day, if it was clearer, the photo below would show the Alps.

Woohooo, another col sign! Even though I have done this route many times, I have always missed the sign. This photo is only a few minutes away from the hiking photo of Doreen directly below this post - although each exercise involved totally different routes.

Will is Happiest while cycling uphill. More enthusiastic than talented, his 2008 Challenge is to (again) cycle 160,000 metres of vertical ascent.
