Sunday, Martin and I along with our St. Etienne friends Philippe and Xavier (and some of their team-mates) rode the Scott 1000 Bosses cyclosportive in the hills above Lyon, France.
“Bosses” means bumps. And from the very start, this course certainly had a lot of hills.
While none of the Cols were above 1000 metres, it felt like we were always climbing or flying downhill.
The event was very well organized. Four well stocked feed stations, a well planned route on scenic and quiet roads, as well as road marshalls at all intersection blocking traffic.
Perfect weather, but for the couple of hours, for some reason, I felt as bad as I have all year. Strangely, as we approached 100 kms I started feeling a lot better. I guess at my age it takes a long time to warm up.
Luckily, my colleagues weren’t in a rush and we all happily took long, leisurely feed breaks.
Overall a great day with old (and new) friends:
