Snow, Skiing, and the Indoor Trainer
By Will • Feb 7th, 2009 • Category: CyclingI hate riding indoors.
But this week I logged 240 kilometers on the indoor trainer, which is more than the rest of my life combined. I just couldn’t get myself to ride out in the awful weather. I am not sure why.
But today, the falling snow looked too inviting. And as often happens, after getting out the door, the ride was too much fun.
And riding the last stretch home, in the all white distance, I saw a runner in pink approaching. As she neared she stretched her hand out to high-five. And I suddenly realized it was my wife out for a run. We didn’t see any other fools out – every one else’s loss.
A week ago we returned from our annual ski trip in the Alps at Les Arcs / La Plagne. Perhaps, the best weather and conditions we have ever had.
And the big news? My wife is now a better skier than me. It was only a few years ago that I would spend each run patiently waiting. Now she attacks everything. Just great!
