A fairly ambitious route primarily on deserted forestry roads near Lake Annecy.
Doreen has cycled up Alpe d’Huez, Ventoux, Galibier, etc. But she had never, ever cycled a century. At least not until today.
A perfect day.
Le Semnoz is featured in my favorite cycling movie: “Le Vélo de Ghislain Lambert.”
March and April is the best time to do small and medium climbs in the Alps as the weather can be warm, the roads fine, and the surrounding mountains stunningly snow covered.
This is a fantastic climb high above Lake Annecy – worth re-doing on a clear sunny day as views everywhere.
I received a nice comment from Colin recently.
He mentioned a road up to Col de la Frasse that I had never heard of – so i got the maps out and made a plan.
High above Lake Annecy – It’s a magnificent and tough climb – and frankly today I suffered near the top.
I am not yet fit or light enough for the July Tour d’Enfer. But at least the injury seems almost OK.
I’m an idiot. Last week I put SPD pedals on my hybrid. Today, I arrived in Annecy with no cycling shoes.
