The Venice of the Alps. Here are my top 5 Cycling Climbs from beautiful Lake Annecy.
I started to run into snow and ice on long stretches shaded from the sun. My tires were slipping and I considered turning around - but I promised myself I would descend the crazy parts by foot.
There are endless cycling trails around the Geneva area. It’s just a question of knowing them. Today, Doreen and I did a beautiful leisurely 2 hour ride on various paths just west of the city. The perfect weather continues.
Perhaps the best three days of (challenging) cycling I have ever done. Even a lousy photographer like me couldn’t help but take some great pictures - it’s paradise here.
Col du Galibier via Col du Telegraphe is the biggest climb in France in terms of altitude gain. I can get to the base of Telegraphe from home in an hour forty-five - as it starts right next to an autoroute - sweet.

In the Alps, you can always find snow - if you go high enough.
We have skiied many times at Flaine - its probably the highest resort near Geneva. It was 25°C (77°F) at the start, but i knew the 21 km route with 1,350 metres of ascent would lead me to cooler weather, […]
A big ride with Martin on some quiet , scenic roads.
After a slow start and a flat tire, my first day in shorts involved a challenging climb up the Saleve. If you look at the elevation chart below, you can see that we took the more gradual way up although it is quite steep […]
The plan was a loop starting in Taninges, up to Col de la Ramaz, down the other side (which I climbed last April), and back to Taninges. Good Plan!
The secret of this route is to take the tiny route D307 out of Taninges and not the far busier D902. The routes run parallel […]
