Mont Revard is the big Massif just north-east of Chambéry, overlooking the south-east side of Lac du Bourget. Its imposing cliff face dominates the views east and the roads up need to cycle around behind these cliffs from either the north (Aix-les-Bains) or the south (Chambéry).

The Plateau de Chambaran is just to the south of the much higher, more savage Vercors Massif. This cycling loop managed 6 cols for the most part on super quiet roads.
I believe many cyclo-tourists do themselves a huge disservice by prioritising Alpe d’Huez above many far, far more interesting roads.
