Call me stupid but I find it motivating to start each year with an empty map and try and fill it with rides.
Here is a comprehensive map of almost a 100 road bike cycling climbs all across Switzerland.
Hopefully to help me plan some trips.
Along with “L’Etape du Tour” - it is probably the most famous - and one of the the most challenging - Cyclosportive in France.
174 kilometres (108 miles) and 5,000 metres vertical ascent (16,400 feet)!
Wow, I am tired!
Attracting several thousand riders, the Time-Megeve cyclosportive is one of the bigger cycling events in France.
There may not be a better base in the French Alps for cycling than Barcelonnette.
It is literally surrounded by mountains looking to be climbed.
The route for the 2008 Paris-Nice was unveiled today.
Stage 4 will climb Mont Ventoux on the lessor known Malaucene side - but will only go as far as Mont Serein Ski Station.
I bumped into a Chamoix - sort of a deer. Note the perfectly heart-shaped bum. Happy Valentine’s day.
As the last big mountain day, this stage could decide the entire race.
Don’t worry, only one climb today. It does happen to be the LONGEST climb in France.
