September in the Alps can be beautiful ….. and much quieter now that the tourist season is over.
With five climbs and some of the steepest stretches in the entire Tour, this stage (along with Ventoux) will be the toughest test of the race.
Day 2 – after the hail, the weather has cleared. Today we cycled Col des Aravis, Col des Saisies, and Cormet de Roselend. I rode mainly with Scott and Tim – great company. Bike route 287855 – powered by Bikemap
Famous for the eponymous cheese, Beaufort is one of the best bases for fabulous climbs in the north French Alps.

The Stage: Approximately 92 kilometres (57 miles); Ascent: 3,030 metres (9,940 feet)
