Doreen climbs Bonette

Woohooo, Doreen on her heavy Touring bike climbed Bonette (this photo made us laugh)!

Signed as the highest road in Europe (debatable), this is a huge and beautiful climb. Perfect weather and today I decided to work hard and felt fairly good considering it’s the 8th day.

It was so cold at the top that the Red Cross was handing out tin-foil blankets at the summit. But epic and luckily pizza at the top due to an event.

Col de la Bonette

Summit: 2,802 metres (9,190 feet)

The Climb: 32 kms (19.9 miles); Ascent: 1,667 metres (5,470 feet);

After a huge lunch, a few of us cycled up to Sainte Anne – very steep for 6 kilometres and a pretty awful surface – but great views.

Sainte Anne la Condamine

Summit: 1,830 metres (6,000 feet)

The Route: 18.5 kms (11.5 miles); Ascent: 730 metres (2,400 feet);

is Happiest while cycling uphill. More enthusiastic than talented, his 2013 Challenge is to cycle a 150 Cols (mountain passes), slowly -- and to just enjoy.

  1. What an epic day! Kudos to you all for the massive climb, can’t wait to read the full trip report. I just saw the boys come in over the Champs Elysees here in Paris. A+

  2. Fantastic… A HUGE Congrats to Doreen! Well now Will… we all know what Doreen deserves for her Christmas or her birthday which ever comes first. A new… nice and light road bike!
    Tell her congrats for me… Donald
