The route includes 3 Cols but the detour up Mont d’Or and it’s leg crushing final kilometre is the highlight of this loop through the French and Swiss Jura mountains.
A very cool feature of the Tour de l’Ain is that for three of the stages they run same-day amateur cyclosportives on the exact same route as the pros.
A beautiful loop through the Haut Juras – finishing with a superb climb through and above the Gorges du Flumens.
Le cycle magazine once called this possibly the most difficult climb in France. An exaggeration, but tough work!
