My masterpiece is the 3rd of 4 high definition laser prints from a digital photograph of the original acrylic on canvas painting (which hangs in the studio of the Canadian artist Michael Haslam). To sharpen and highlight it, the artist has then hand painted various unique additions like the clouds, toe clips, and bits of Coppi.
How cool is this? For my birthday, my cycling partner Martin gave me a limited edition painting of Fausto Coppi (the yellow is just the wall). NICE and THANKS!
Fausto Coppi is arguably the greatest cyclist to ever live. He twice won the Tour de France and Giro d’Italia in the same year (1949 and 1952) – the first to ever do this. He won the Giro five times and countless other races.
Cycling geeks like to argue whether he or Eddie Merckx was the greatest ever. While Merckx won more events, Coppi had his career interrupted for five years during World War 2.

There are a couple of great Coppi monuments up top of huge climbs. The first photo below is near the top of Col d’Izoard in the French Alps – the site of several epic Tour de France duels between Louison Bobet (the other face in the monument) and Coppi. The second photo is from the Pordoi Pass in the Dolomites, Italy.
My wife said that Coppi in the painting looks a little like me. But apart from the big nose, I don’t see a resemblance.

I’m glad you you feature my Fausto Coppi Art. Hope you still enjoy it. I’m honoured to have such an accomplished rider have my Art on his website.
Best wishes,
Mike
