Happiest while cycling uphill.

36.2 kms Well I am exactly 39.5 today. I always remember my half birthday because it is my BABY brothers birthday. Wow 38!!! Early ride to avoid a storm later today. It’s interesting that I feel better/stronger than at any time this year . Maybe a few weeks of lighter riding has done me some good. Total distance 6,653 kms will-davies.com

34.2 kms, 37.1 kms, 24.7 kms, 33.7 kms, 34.5 kms, 56.4 kms, 26.8 kms Wow, I have been bad at posting recently. This will stop. I have been doing mainly local rides recently as meetings about our house purchase with bankers, real estate guys, notary’s etc has been getting in the way. A couple of big mountain rides have been cancelled due to bad weather. And I’ve just been a little lazy. Anyway, I need to get back into swing immediately to keep the momentum going. 10,000 kms is a long way away. Total distance 6,617 kms will-davies.com

42.1 & 36.2 kms (Tuesday & Wednesday) I am a little distracted as we have just had an offer accepted on a house in France. Getting a mortgage and going through a bunch of legal documents in French is difficult and a bit stressful – but we are very pleased with the house. Two very hard rides to relieve stress. Fasted average speed of the year on Wednesday’s ride. Perfect weather continues – sunny and not too hot. Total distance 6,371 km will-davies.com

37.1 kms & 35.4 kms It seems to happen every few weeks that I suddenly lose all motivation to bike. Strange, as the weather is fantastic and I am feeling pretty fit after last week in the mountains. Hopefully it will pass quickly. Total distance 6,208 km will-davies.com

50.3 kms A 25 km climb to Les Arc 2000 ski station – which for some reason is at 2,150 metres and not 2,000. High in the French Alps near Bourg St. Maurice, this climb is long but not too steep – mostly 4% to 6%. Still, 25kms meant 1,350 metres (+4,000 feet) of climbing. Felt strong and enjoyed the great views into the valley below. Total distance 6,099 km will-davies.com

0 kms (cycling at least) Saturday in Val d’Isere we decided to take a cycling break. A super hike up into the mountains, where we bumped into lots of Marmottes (like beavers without the tails). Unfortunately, as we got up pretty high, the clouds rolled in. This is us beside a cairn at about 2,700 metres made by hikers adding a rock as they walk by.

I got up before Doreen with the plan to climb the col and meet her for a hike. But at the top the weather changed and by half way down it was cold and pouring. Descending on wet roads is treacherous but luckily my phone rang and Doreen was on her way with the car to rescue me.Another great ride.
