Col de la Biche and Col du Grand Colombier are two of the hardest unknown climbs in France. In the Jura mountains, they are both “roads to nowhere” meaning virtually no traffic (I saw 5 cars in over 3 hours on the climbs).

Day 9 of the Tour d’Enfer and Greg, Scott, Andrew, Andrew, Ralph, and Doreen and I decided to climb Col d’Allos. Col d’Allos Summit: 2,247 metres (7,370 feet) The Climb: 21 kms (13 miles); Ascent: 1,130 metres (3,700 feet); This is perhaps my favorite climb in the Alps. Not too hard, and much of the route goes along a little cliff road with ever improving views. We kept a lazy, social pace and just enjoyed ourselves on yet another beautiful day. Signed as the highest road in Europe (debatable), this is a huge and beautiful climb. Perfect weather and today I decided to work hard and felt fairly good considering it’s the 8th day.
Doreen joined us in Barcelonnette last night! While some people decided to take a rest day, a few of us opted for a light climb up the beautiful Col de la Cayolle.
