The Plateau de Chambaran is just to the south of the much higher, more savage Vercors Massif. This cycling loop managed 6 cols for the most part on super quiet roads.

Deserted 13 km cycling climb on snow-lined route. The road to La Barillette was surprisingly cleared of snow. And closed to cars!
Cycling up to Col de Joux Plane and renting Cross Country Skis at the Summit. Map, photos, etc.
One of my regular and favourite winter climbs. Col de Pierre Carrée (1844 metres) is the highest paved road open 12 months a year in Haute Savoie
Near the entrance to the “cycling-mecca” Maurienne valley is a great little road winding up through the woods to Col de Champlaurent. Ten fairly steep kilometres, lots of hairpins and virtually no traffic.
Near Geneva many of the best Nordic Ski locations are at the top of interesting cycling climbs.
A winter bike ride up Le Semnoz, Annecy’ biggest cycling climb. Then Cross Country Skiing at the summit. Photos, map, etc.
An evening cycling in London. Using the bike-share program to visit major tourist sites. Photos.
Snow biking atop Mont Salève. Map, photos and route description.
Happy New Year! Believe it or not, this blog turns ten years old today. I suppose proving that I like to make New Year resolutions. I’ve had distance challenges, ascent challenges, number of Cols challenges, etc. and these big targets have all kept me motivated. But this year, I’ve decided that a challenge with several little goals will keep me the most happy (and busy). 2014 was a great year for cycling. See links for favourite road bike and favourite mountain bike climbs. See here for a quick 2014 Challenge wrap up. As always, I must first thank my truly…
