I have skied a few times at Megève but never cycled there (at least not on the ski slopes).
Starting down on the valley floor below St. Gervais, the goal was to climb to Mont Joux while visiting the wonderfully named Col de Christ.
Stage 19 of the 2016 Tour de France will finish at Bettex. But if you want to go higher, bring a mountain bike and follow this route.

I probably made a mistake doing this on a realtively cloudy day, as the climb is in the face of Mont Blanc and the views would have been so much better on a clear day. Oh well.
The key on the early part of the climb is to pick one of several little roads up towards Le Bettex to enjoy near deserted route. Both my climb and my descent were paved up to roughly 1425 metres or so. So even a road biker could enjoy an almost 1000 metres of ascent. Above this, I was on gravel ski-lift service roads or, ski slopes.

The non-paved stuff was generally very steep but I managed to cycle most of it. But the occasional bike-push.
Again, I was disappointed that the weather wasn’t a little clearer, but I enjoyed eyeing other potential routes for a return visit. Very nice ride.

Usually the views would be a 10, so perhaps I should be kinder
