I have done much more local cycling than usual this year. I have a few regular 2-hour mountain bike loops from home that I love. I also have the good fortune to live at the base of Mont Salève and usually cycle it at least once a week – sometimes by road bike, often with a mountain bike.
There are many route options:
- Mont Salève: 5 Road Bike Routes
- Mont Salève: The Mountain Bike Routes

I’ve also joined the Steel Wheelers for quite a few fun, social Wednesday Evenings climbing the steepest side of Le Salève from Le Coin.

Anyway, this is all just an excuse to post a few recent photos, mostly taken with my new DJI Spark drone. See a detailed review of the Spark here.

The last hairpin on the steepest side. Two very different angles:

And finally, here are a couple of photos of my wife while riding through some Geneva vineyards:
Yes, I have been having fun with my silly drone hobby. It’s actually easier to control than I expected. But I’ve had more fun just enjoying a bunch of scenic local rides. I am lucky to live here.
Another new hobby? A 360 degree photo from Mont Salève:

Nice. “Some Geneva vineyards” look to me like the roads around Dardagny? My favourite coffee stop is the tea-room / boulangerie in Dardagny, so I know those roads well.
yes, the top vineyard photo is that steep little car-free road to Challex, France above Dardagny, and the other is that cool ridge road through the vineyards just above Plaine.
