Another single lane, beautiful, well paved Swiss climb – with a steep finish.
We were spending the weekend in Adelboden, so Doreen dropped me off down low at Reichenbach and I set off with my bike up the valley.
Note: if you start as low down as Reichenbach make sure to take the quiet road I used on the map below to Fruitigen – it runs parallel to a much busier main road that heads to Kandersteg.
The first 20 kilometres of this climb are ok, nice, not bad. But it is the principle road up the valley – not too busy, but not empty either.
But after Adelboden, this becomes a deserted, beautiful climb … that gets tough at the end.
Sillerenbühl is the top of a ski lift and has 360° views down, and is surrounded by several much higher peaks.
Unfortunately it was overcast, but the rain stayed away. All-in-all, highly recommended. I’ll blog tomorrow about another great climb here … the Hahnenmoospass.
