The Kiental valley is dominated by the snow-covered peaks of Blumlisalp at the far end – the goal today was to get as high possible on my hybrid bike.
The route includes 3 Cols but the detour up Mont d’Or and it’s leg crushing final kilometre is the highlight of this loop through the French and Swiss Jura mountains.
This is a big, beautiful climb with plenty of road graffiti from a recent Tour de Suisse appearance
Andermatt can be the start point for four beautiful +2000 metres passes (Furka, Susten, Gotthard and Oberalp).
Leave the road bike at home as these hairpins are 100% cobble-stone heaven.
Now this is an interesting way to cycle Col de la Madeleine.

I am not used to being here without skis on. But I was plotting this challenging route last winter while slaloming (!?) the slopes at Flaine ski station.
