Are you interested in cycling some alps climbs but a little intimidated or unsure if you can manage it?
Col de Leschaux, near Annecy, is a fantastic introductory climb.
At 12 kilometres, it’s fairly long, but it’s seldom steep (see the profile above). It’s a nice quiet road with nice views of lake Annecy.

From Leschaux it’s possible to go much higher (above 1600 metres), up the back side of Le Semnoz on a really nice, quiet road. See details here.

One of my fav rides. Will do Semnoz in the summer. Back out for a ski next week…if there’s snow!
Another nice thing about this climb for those new to riding cols is the descent. Not very technical and very little braking required. Be careful of the last bridge though – it’s pretty much one lane.
