Today is the kick-off for the 2008 Tour d’Enfer. 17 friends arriving from the USA, Canada, Germany, Switzerland, Turkey, and France – to cycle the Route des Grandes Alpes and a few days in Barcelonnette.

Here are photos and videos posted from the road during the Tour. This will get updated every day for the amusement of friends and family.
Day 1: We got poured on for the second half of Col de la Colombiere and briefly some hail. Nothing to do but pedal to the top where a fire and hot chocolate was waiting!

Hi Chill,
Wow, what weather you had for your first day of the tour! I was envisioning blue skies and sunshine…not sunshine followed by torrential rain with the occasional rumbling of thunder!
Well done to get to the top of Colombiere with a smile on your face!!
Love,
Doreen
Hi Will…
The jerseys are great. Please tell Leslie hello as well. The good news is you got the rain and hail over with so unless there’s snow (oops)… then sunshine days await you! Ride strong-Ride Safe!
Happy to see that you found 2 good (&bold again) domestiques. Looks to me that they do a wonderful job as you look way fresher at the top of Roselend than you did when I was domestiqing you towards the top of Colombiere. True, you got yourself very quickly back in shape once you noticed that your all-ladies-fan-club was there 😉
PS Next time you need a BBQ-master…call me…I’m trained now…ooops…betrayed myself. Shut up Eric!
Stay safe and have LOTS of FUN.
Your Canadian fans watching progress of your tour with interest. We’ll be looking for you tomorrow as you see the TdeF. It really is the most beautiful sport in the world especially with the scenery.
Pretty snazzy jerseys! We’re not sure whether he’s holding a fire extinguisher or a bicycle pump?? Hows the team holding up? the hail looked miserable but it was good to see the smiling faces. I hope we’ll get a detailed report at some point. Bon chance and good climbing.
Love Mum
