Sunshine and warmer temperatures meant it was time to take a break from the indoor trainer and cross country skiing.
Les Bornes is the region of Haute Savoie on the other side of Le Salève Mountain from Geneva.
My ride was a very interesting hilly route along mainly quiet little roads through tiny villages – with beautiful views of the nearby Alps for virtually the entire ride.
French pro cyclist Jerome Coppel is one of my favourite riders in large part due to his active fan club at races. When I saw the 2008 Dauphiné Libéré climb the super steep route to Col de la Croisette from Le Coin his name was (and still is) chalked absolutely everywhere.
I learned on the ride that apparently his home town is Arbusigny – a little village near the top of Col le Parc – with pretty much every approach uphill. I guess it was good training for him while growing up 😉 .
