I don’t know why I don’t do more rides-to-see-the-sunrise-at-a-mountain-summit.**
**I do know: It requires a very early start! 🙂
For a good summit sunrise ride the mountain has to have great views towards the rising sun. This disqualifies a surprisingly large number of big climbs. But one of Mont Salève’s two summits is named “Panorama des Alpes” and has clear eastward views. My friend Tim and I had been planning the ride for a long time and decided that the weather was now perfect.
We would climb the ultra steep NE side from Le Coin, the same side that our Steel Wheelers Cycling Club climbs every Wednesday.
See here for details of all fived paved routes up Mont Salève.

So much fun. Many thanks to Tim. Great company.

Just wow and wow.
Hey Will. Just took my retirement a few months back and looking forward to planning some cycling trips when this virus silliness is over. I get inspired every time I read your rides. Time flies when you retire and you realize that whatever you want to do, you better do it while you’re still able to or else you may never have a chance to do it.
A little like ticking off your bucket list.
A big thank you for still sharing your rides with us so we can actually see and feel the future rides and possibilities. Have a great day and thanks again ?
