March and April is the best time to do small and medium climbs in the Alps as the weather can be warm, the roads fine, and the surrounding mountains stunningly snow covered.

While skiing at Le Grand Bornand a few days ago, I kept looking towards Col de la Colombière and wondering if I could reach the top with a bike – without waiting until June for the road to open.
The climb to Col des Gliéres is one of a very few big climbs that I think is actually better (more fun!) in the winter.
I love having a mountain in my backyard.
I am trying to get myself motivated for climbing in the cold. Actually, the climbing is fun. It’s the descents that can be awful.
