The other weekend Doreen and I went to Val d’Isère to cycle Col de l’Iseran the highest paved mountain pass in Europe – and definitely one of the most beautiful.
We were in Val d’Isère for Sunday’s Col de l’Iseran “bike-only” day and I decided to spend Saturday exploring up high and off-the-beaten-track.

I was looking to see of it was possible to climb a tiny “road” up to Col de la Charmette.
This weekend Ricardo Ricco, the “Boys from St Etienne,” and I participated in the Ventoux Night Sessions.
As a pre middle-of-the-night ride we cycled this 76 kilometre route – primarily through the magnificent Les Gorges de la Nesque.
Col du Noyer is a beautiful, medium difficulty, climb in the Hautes Alpes starting off the Route du Napoleon.
