I brought along a domestique to make a little video of today’s fantastic climb.
There is a currently a lot of snow around. So it’s either stay on ploughed roads or brave the powder.
It had never occurred to me that the legendary Joux Plane might be rideable in winter.
How does a 32 kilometres bike ride take over 5 hours? Ice, Ice, more ice, snow, hiking, etc.
I have to cycle 100 Cols in 2009, so I thought I better get started.
Believe it or not, I have yet to go cycling in 2009. Don’t worry, I haven’t been too lazy.
I just couldn’t resist.
While skiing at Le Grand Bornand a few days ago, I kept looking towards Col de la Colombière and wondering if I could reach the top with a bike – without waiting until June for the road to open.
The climb to Col des Gliéres is one of a very few big climbs that I think is actually better (more fun!) in the winter.
I love having a mountain in my backyard.
