It’s 2009 and time for my 5th annual challenge!
I consider this site a photoblog more than anything else. Anyone that rides with me has learned to tolerate frequent stops for photos (and for me to catch my breath).
I just couldn’t resist.
While skiing at Le Grand Bornand a few days ago, I kept looking towards Col de la Colombière and wondering if I could reach the top with a bike – without waiting until June for the road to open.
At the base of Col de la Colombière, the quaint Savoie village of Le Grand Bornand will host a Tour de France stage for the 5th time in 2009 – the huge mountain stage 17.
The climb to Col des Gliéres is one of a very few big climbs that I think is actually better (more fun!) in the winter.
Today, I was the camera-man while Doreen, Katy, Martin, Eric, and almost 30,000 (!) others ran the Geneva Escalade.
I love having a mountain in my backyard.
I am trying to get myself motivated for climbing in the cold. Actually, the climbing is fun. It’s the descents that can be awful.
