I had hoped to cycle up the Jaunpass during the Tour de Romandie a couple of weeks ago, but the climb was canceled due to snow(!) up high.

Another fantastic day cycling and watching the Tour de Romandie. My plan was to cycle both side of Col du Marchairuz and then watch the race up top (map at bottom). The climbs: From Aubonne: Length: 20 kms Ascent: 1050 metres From Le Brassus: Length: 7.4 kms Ascent: 450 metres From Aubonne, the climb to Marchairuz was more challenging than I expected. I brought my photographer today and he filmed my stage victory: (the secret is to leave 2 hours before the peloton).

Excerpt: I was passed by someone that looked suspiciously like Cadel Evans. So I decided to follow him.

Note, in the video , we spoke in French as I don’t speak Australian.

Philippe and I have ridden together twice now. Today, and once with light hail. We have agreed that our third time must include some sun.

My greatest cycling skill? Climbing? Descending? Time Trialing? Sadly no.

But I am a great route planner! And today’s route was sweet.

It’s tag line is “The most beautiful 10 miles in the world.”

This is just a wonderful route. All the roads are well surfaced, deserted, scenic, and often uphill. Although, I need to write to the local mayors to install some missing Col signs.

It’s that time of year where cyclists all over the world break out their silly kit. Today, I had my full Marmotte kit (fuzzy red Alpine rodents all over my clothes).
